Walnut shell abrasive is a new generation of abrasive to replace quartz sand abrasive, improve water quality and significantly reduce the cost of water treatment. It has a stronger resistance to pressure. According to the data obtained from relevant tests, the average compressive limit of walnut shell grains with a particle size of 1.2-1.6mm is 0.2295KN (23.40kgf). The average compressive limit was 0.165KN (16.84kgf) for walnut shell grains of 0.8-1.0mm diameter. At the same time, the chemical properties of walnut shell abrasives are very stable and do not contain toxic substances, the solubility in acid, alkali and water is very small, the loss of walnut shells in hydrochloric acid solution is 4.99% and in sodium hydroxide solution is 3.8%, which does not cause deterioration of water quality.

Walnut shell abrasive uses:

On the one hand, walnut shell as filter media has the ability of ordinary filter media to retain suspended particles in wastewater; on the other hand, walnut shell filter media can rely on its unique surface physicochemical properties to remove emulsified oil particles in oil recovery wastewater by adsorbing them on the surface of the filter media or on the coalescence on the surface of the filter media.

The use of walnut shells as an adsorbent has been scientifically proven. However, the viscosity and surface tension of the oil mass inversely affect the adsorption rate of walnut shells, and the recovery of oil from walnut shells is much higher than from other aqueous media, and can be achieved by force compression only. At the same time, walnut shell filter media is suitable for the filtration of well washing wastewater after pretreatment.
