Brown fused alumina is a tough, hard material (Mohs hardness 9) with high strength, excellent wear and corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity. It is produced by controlled melting of calcined bauxite in an electric arc furnace. Furthermore, BFA is the perfect media for removing rust, mill scale, and surface contamination due to its high bulk density and hardness.
